After loosing her Mother, Sara moves in with her Dad. This move means she is taken in by people from the ghetto and she falls for the boy she originally didn't like, which causes problems for them both.

Narrative: (DOUBLE)

1. Mother dies and her dancing passion stops.
2. Moves in with her dad in a ghetto and joins a new school.
3. Makes new friends and they discover her talent and ask her to join their dancing group.
4. Starts to get close to a boy.
5. Friends do not like it.
6. They get together and friends then agree to it.
7. He helps her achieve her dancing dream.
8. Happily ever after.

Equilibrium 1: Decides she likes the boy.

Disruption 1: Friends do not agree to it because she is white.

Recognition of disruption 1: Argument with her friend.

Attempt to repair disruption 1: Friend tells boy it was her fault that she hasn't spoke to him so boy talks to girl.

Reinstatement of equilibrium 1: They get together again.

 

Equilibrium 2: Happy life.

Disruption 2: Mom dies.

Recognition of disruption 2: Has to move in with her Dad in a ghetto.

Attempt to repair disruption 2: Makes new friends and fits in.

Reinstatement of equilibrium 2: Achieves her dancing dream.

Iconography: 

• Girl being the main character because girls are shown to have more feelings than boys.
• Boy and girls love is not approved of, friends opinions cause problems for them and their relationship.
• Boy and girl are from different social classes and backgrounds, relating back to the issues.
• The single parent is again her father however this character is not a "daddy's girl" because her Mother and Father did not live together when her Mother died. This seperation is also iconic because it causes trouble in the characters life - troubled teens.
• To start with the girl does not like the boy and they do not get on.
• Clubs and dancing, teenagers having fun.
