Narrative: (DOUBLE)

1. Everything is happy, best friends and family.
2. New friend, make over starts.
3. Step brother starts to like her.
4. New friend changes, what to do?
5. New friend tells her she likes her step brother, she is jealous but confused why.
6. Realises she loves her step brother.
7. They kiss.
8. New friend apologies and becomes herself again.
9. Step brother and her live happily ever after.

Equilibrium 1: Happy life.

Disruption 1: Her step brother is around more.

Recognition of disruption 1: Realises she loves her step brother.

Attempt to repair disruption 1: Try and act different around him to hide it.

Reinstatement of equilibrium 1: They kiss and get together, happily ever after.

Equilibrium 2: Just her and her best friend, popular girls at school.

Disruption 2: New girl joins their group, after they give her a make over she changes into a nasty person.

Recognition of disruption 2: New friend says something nasty to Cher.

Attempt to repair disruption 2: Apologise to each other.

Reinstatement of equilibrium 2: All friends again. 

Iconography:

• The "populars" in the high school, Cher and Dionne, being the main characters. Strong accents and girly girls who care a lot about appearance and making themselves look good.
• Typical American high school.
• Obvious social status difference in the school: Populars, skater geeks etc. (stereotypes)
• The popular boy that everyone wants to be with, Elton. Heart throb that Cher had a relationship with, iconic popular and popular relationship that fails.
• The single parent left to look after the main character, usually from the other parent dying at a younger age. Usually with the daughter the father is left to look after her, creating a "daddy's little girl", in this case making the main character spoilt.
• The boy that ends up with the main character was never expected but they end up loving each other.
• The feelings towards the two lovers are revealed towards the end of the film.
• The crazy teenage parties - teenagers being rebellious and having fun.
